Now Open: Graduate Student Travel Awards!

Chicken Farmers of Canada is committed to supporting the next generation of researchers contributing to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the Canadian chicken sector. The Graduate Student Travel Awards provide financial support to MSc and PhD students presenting chicken-related research at scientific conferences and professional meetings. These awards support the development of highly qualified personnel by enabling students to attend scientific conferences where research relevant to the Canadian chicken sector is presented.

Award Value

  • Up to $1,000 per recipient
    Up to 4 awards awarded annually

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate program (MSc or PhD) at a Canadian institution
  • Conduct research relevant to chicken production, health, welfare, sustainability, biosecurity, or food safety
  • Have an abstract for an oral or poster presentation accepted (or confirmation pending) at a scientific or industry conference
  • Be in good academic standing

Evaluation Criteria

Applications are evaluated based on:

  • Potential benefit & relevance of the research to the Canadian chicken sector
  • Quality and clarity of the research being presented
  • Academic achievements

Recipient Responsibilities

Award recipients are required to:

  • Acknowledge CFC support in their presentation
  • Submit a brief post-conference summary highlighting key learnings relevant to industry, and sharing insights gained from the conference (template available here)
