Newly Elected Committee Members and Representatives – 2024

Audit 

The Audit Committee develops policies and budgets consistent with Financial Guidelines and statutory responsibilities. Responsible for reviewing all budgets and financial statements, the committee maintains a high level of communication with the Board of Directors, ensuring financial transparency and accountability in alignment with CFC’s objectives and obligations.

Governance 

The Governance Committee oversees the fulfillment of legal, ethical, and functional responsibilities by the Board of Directors. Their mandate includes developing governance policies, providing education and orientation programs, succession planning, monitoring board activities, and evaluating board members’ performance to ensure effective governance practices and uphold organizational integrity and accountability.

Allocation Policies and Procedures 

The Allocation Policies and Procedures Committee (APPC) ensures alignment with CFC’s objectives by overseeing and developing policies and procedures related to regulatory frameworks such as the Operating Agreement, Proclamation, Regulations, and related policies.

Production

The Production Committee develops policies concerning food safety, animal welfare, environmental sustainability, emergency management preparedness, and research initiatives at CFC. They oversee the development and maintenance of the Raised by a Canadian Farmer On-Farm Food Safety Program (OFFSP) and Animal Care Program (ACP).

CFA

The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) is the country’s largest general farm organization, representing over 200,000 Canadian farmers. Advocating for agricultural interests, promoting sustainable policies and initiatives, promotion dialogue among stakeholders, and supporting farmers’ interests both domestically and internationally.

CPRC 

The Canadian Poultry Research Council (CPRC) is an industry-led organization with a mandate to support poultry research in Canada and the training of highly qualified people for Canada’s poultry sector. Its primary function is that of a matching fund granting agency.

NFACC 

The National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) assembles diverse stakeholders to develop Codes of Practice for farm animal care, establish processes for animal care assessment programs, and facilitate open dialogue on farm animal welfare.

Animal Health Canada 

Animal Health Canada (AHC) is the only national organization that brings together industry, federal, provincial and territorial partners to provide collaborative guidance on a cohesive, functional and responsive farmed animal health and welfare system in Canada.

 JAWWG

The Joint Animal Welfare Working Group (JAWWG) is a collaborative initiative between CFC and CPEP aimed at advancing animal welfare standards in the poultry sector. It identifies and prioritize broiler welfare aspects for improvement, and compile science-based recommendations for specific topics in the NFACC poultry code.

Joint Government-Industry Working Group on the Control of Salmonella and Campylobacter in Poultry

The Joint Government-Industry Working Group on the Control of Salmonella and Campylobacter in Poultry is a joint federal, provincial and territorial (FPT) initiative aimed at decreasing the health risks and economic impacts of food-borne pathogens in Canadian meat and poultry.
