New article alert! Feed additives

Feed additives can be a helpful tool for supporting animal health and decreasing antimicrobial use. However, with many different types of additives, it can be hard to know where to start. This new article reviews the different additives and their mechanisms of action, which can help when exploring options with your vet and nutritionist.

Vaccinating birds for avian influenza – are we there yet?

A new document has been developed to answer all the common questions about vaccinating poultry in Canada for avian influenza. Check it out to see where we are in the process, what is available, and why we cannot vaccinate – yet.

Stocking density calculations

Planning for the appropriate stocking density at the time of shipping requires the consideration of many factors. Some factors will be constant like barn floor area or number of feeders and drinkers, but other aspects like expected mortality or target weight may change from flock to flock. This article reviews the calculations necessary to plan for appropriate placement numbers. An Excel sheet with pre-filled formulas is available from your provincial board.
