Canadians ready to tackle 90 million chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 4, 2026 – OTTAWA — As fans across Canada prepare their wings (and their couches) to watch the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots for 2026 Super Bowl, there’s no fear of a shortage in the snack stakes. Thanks to Canada’s 2,800+ chicken farmers from coast to coast, it is expected that approximately 90 million wings poised to fly off plates faster than a last-minute touchdown.

Whether you’re frying, baking, or saucing them for the big game, chicken wings — along with drumsticks and buffalo chicken dips — are set to headline Super Bowl snack tables from across the country. As Chicken Farmers of Canada Chair Tim Klompmaker puts it: “Whether it’s a homemade wing spread or an order from your go-to spot, wings are the touchdown treat this weekend.”

That confidence isn’t just wishful thinking. A 2025 survey by Abacus Data found that more than 8 in 10 Canadians consider it important that the chicken they buy is raised locally — underscoring strong trust in the safety, quality, and freshness of Canadian chicken. That makes it no surprise this weekend’s wing demand is expected to soar.

When shopping or ordering, look for the Raised by a Canadian Farmer logo — a symbol that ensures you’re getting fresh, Canadian-raised chicken with raised to the highest standards.
