Canadians Projected to Consume 82 Million Chicken Wings for Super Bowl

Ottawa, CA
This Sunday, Canadians from coast to coast will gather around their televisions, laptops and tablets armed with team spirit, and a handful of a popular sports game snack: the chicken wing. Canadian chicken farmers are here to assure Canadians that indeed, there will be enough wings to celebrate the big game—82 million in fact!

Chicken is Canada’s number one meat protein, so it’s no surprise that wings, drumsticks and buffalo chicken dips will be the preferred snacks of choice when it comes to Super Bowl food.

“Chicken wings are a great choice for any gathering—whether it’s for a sporting event, with family, or getting together after work,” said Tim Klompmaker, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Canada. “Canadians want Canadian chicken and Canada’s 2,800 chicken farmers work hard to ensure there is enough fresh, safe, high-quality chicken raised with care available in restaurants and in stores.”

In a recent online survey conducted by Abacus Data, over 80% of Canadians prefer chicken that is raised in Canada and are confident in the health and safety of chicken produced here. It’s no wonder Canadians will be reaching for wings this weekend.

While shopping at a favourite grocery store or ordering from a local restaurant this weekend and always, consumers are reminded to look for the Raised by a Canadian Farmer logo.
Enjoy the game – and most importantly, enjoy the wings!
