We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Financial Officer to join our team for a 1-year
maternity leave coverage. The ideal candidate will have proficiency using NetSuite and be
responsible for managing key financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and
supporting the organization’s financial well-being. As a key member of the finance team,
reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Officer will deliver timely financial insights,
support budgeting processes, and maintain the integrity of CFC’s accounting systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Supports the Finance unit in coordinating financial planning and in managing the
organization’s financial resources
– Lead and maintain accounting software (NetSuite) for all modules, providing reporting
and training support as needed
– Process payments including EFTs, bill payments, and cheques for approval by the
Senior Financial Analyst, Director of Finance, and CEO
– Prepare monthly GST/HST remittances
– Create and post all journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance
– Perform monthly bank reconciliations, amortization and investment files
– Prepare monthly and yearly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
– Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements
– Support mid-year and year-end financial close processes and assist with budget
preparation and forecasting
– Provide support for CFC’s audit preparation and closing the year-end
– Coordinate and ensure maintenance of financial procedure descriptions
Carry out all other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Finance and/or the
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Location:
The Financial Officer position is in Ottawa (Hybrid – 3 days/week in person)
Education:
– A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
– 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles

Qualifications and Skills:
– 1+ year(s) hands-on experience with NetSuite accounting system
– Strong accounting knowledge with experience in full-cycle accounting
– Strong proficiency in MS Office programs (Excel, Word)
-Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
– Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
– An initiative-taking team player with excellent communication skills
– Previous experience in the non-profit sector is considered an asset
– Language skills: Fluency in English, French is considered an asset
